About the Early College Program (ECP)

What is ECP?
The no-cost Early College Program (ECP) blends high school and college in a rigorous, supportive way, enabling a student to graduate from GHS with 34 transferable college credits. That's a full year's worth of college, which means saving a year's worth of tuition, fees, books and housing at a university! All classes take place at GHS!
Benefits of ECP
ECP students graduate from Gladstone High School with 34 transferable college semester units from Citrus College. Other benefits include:
- Access to high-demand college courses
- Access to college instructors
- No tuition!
- Books paid for by AUSD
- Eligibility to enroll at a four-year college as a sophomore.

Program Details

Here are some other things to know about ECP:
- This program is only for students who are serious about attending college. Students currently in the program have a 2.5 GPA or higher.
- You must commit to taking Summer School classes for two summers.
- You will be placed in a block schedule during junior and senior years. Periods 1-2 are for college courses; periods 3-7 are for GHS courses.
- Some prerequisites courses must be passed before enrollment in transferable-credit courses.
- You must maintain a C- or higher to stay in the Early College Program.

This program is only for students who are going to community college.
FALSE
- After graduating from GHS, you can attend Citrus College for just one year and then transfer as a junior to a 4-year college.
- Or you can go straight to a four-year college with a year of general education courses completed!

The Citrus classes are remedial in nature.

- All courses are transferable college-level courses that meet university standards for general education. These courses/grades are included on your permanent college transcript.
- You must pass an entrance exam to enroll in the prerequisite courses.
- Students who receive a D grade cannot continue in the ECP.

AP courses are a guaranteed way of earning college credits.

- There are no guarantees with AP, IB or ECP.
- Each school is unique; a score of 3, 4 or 5 on an AP exam does not automatically mean you will receive credit.
